D1028 Chicago Navy Pier

The main exposition tent at Navy Pier glows white in the daytime as the ferris wheel and Chicago skyline twinkles with lights at sunset. The nightlife on Lake Michigan includes cruise ships, amusement parks, and music concerts.

Navy Pier was built in 1916 as part of architect Daniel Burnham's Plan of Chicago. Originally built as a cargo and warehouse facility for lake freighters plying the waters of Lake Michigan. Today, the pier is major landmark and Chicago's most popular tourist destination whose attractions include a Ferris wheel, IMAX theater, the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, the Chicago Children's Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

Near the end of the pier is the Skyline Theater, a domed outdoor concert venue providing seating for an audience of up to 1500. At night the lighting sets the theater aglow, accenting the modern architecture of the theater venue against the backdrop of the classical design of Navy Pier.
