The Tulip is a genus of deciduous flower favored by gardeners worldwide. The large flower opens with six petals which bloom spectacularly. With the exception of pure blue, the flowers come in a wide assortment of colors, including a range of whites, yellows, oranges, pinks, and reds. Grown from bulbs or seeds, the perennial flowering plants are often associated with the Dutch, Holland and the Netherlands. Known by its botanic name, Tulipa gesneriana, most will know this ornamental potted-plant simply as a Tulip.
