The Gapstow Bridge is an icon of Central Park in New York City.

Built in 1896 from a design by Howard & Caudwell, the simple stone bridge is made from Schist stone, the bedrock of Manhattan. The victorian era bridge is located at the southern end of the park near Central Park South (59th Street) and Fifth Avenue. The site overlooks The Pond with quintessential views of the buildings of the New York skyline including The Plaza Hotel. Famed for the horse carriages, hotels and luxury shops, the area is renowned as a tourist and travel destination.
