Halloween is an autumn holiday that is celebrated worldwide. In most countries the Fall festival is celebrated on October 31st. Icons of the holiday include carved pumpkins illuminated by candles, known as jack-o-lanterns, corn stalks, hay bales, haunted houses, apple bobbing and spooky house decorations such as bats and spider webs. Children will trick-or-treat, seeking candy from neighborhood homes, wearing scary costumes including traditional supernatural creatures such as a witch, werewolf, vampire, mummy, ghost, monster, skeleton or Frankenstein. The holiday gets its occult origins from pagan or Celtic traditions such as the Pomona, Parentalia, Samhain and All-Hallows-Eve.
